mRoad is NOT about everybody believing all the same things.  It's not about shallow happy clappy Jesus songs.

It's about the journey of our real lives.  Real life is hard.  It's full of ups and downs.  It's our journey... Our road...

Let's make the most of it

God is along for the ride with us!

Meaningful worship in community that helps you grow closer to God...

An approach to faith that's more complex than simple black-and-white rules...

These are just a few of the things you will find when you worship Jesus Christ at Lord of Life.

Music

Music is one of those amazing gifts given to us by God.  It connects us emotionally in a way almost nothing else can.

At Lord of Life, we know that EVERYONE has musical gifts (even if that gift is sometimes the ability to appreciate what others have shared).

Prayer Shawl Ministry

They may look like balls of yarn, but they are just waiting...

...to be knitted and crocheted into shawls,

...prayed over in a group of caring community,

...and given to people in need of comfort in our congregation.

Life Passages News

Where did the summer go?  We had a great time in Life Passages this summer, learning about different vocations/hobbies and how we can be a disciple of Jesus no matter what we decide to be when we ‘grow-up’.  Many thanks to the following people who gave of their time to come and talk to the young people of our congregation:  Dr. Dave Neiger, Timothy Kuhlmann, Amy & Kevin Simmons, Pastor Herm Kuhlmann, Dr. Heather Lasher, Master Sergeant Bill Pierce, Dr. Dave Dickson and Paul Westrick.  You all were wonderful and the kids loved getting to know you.

Do Something, Say Something, Change Something

Location: Room 309

Time: 10:25-11:00

Do you have a passion for helping others, volunteering, or mission work but aren't sure where to start or who to talk to?  The Mission Team will be hosting classes in September and October to help you identify your passion within our mission fractals Talk: (Witness), Walk: (Servant), and Squawk: (Advocacy).

Anyone interested in sharing their passion for mission is invited, and encouraged to attend.  If you lead or are currently involved in a ministry, we encourage you to come and share your passion with others.

Coffee and refreshments will be provided.

If you have additional questions, please contact Jill Cottone, Joel Frederick, or Schelley Pierce.

Child Care Volunteers Needed

As you have likely noticed, the baby boom is all around us at Lord of Life!  We need your assistance more than ever to ensure that our young children have a nurturing place of rest and play during services and Life Passages on Sundays.

Our current volunteer roster allows that your support on this team will allow you to serve as little as once every two months, although more often is always appreciated!  If you are interested in serving in the Child Care Ministry, please contact co-leaders Christine Witt or Amy Morgan and indicate your preferred time slot of serving at the 9:15 service, 10:15 Life Passages, or the 11:15 service.

We are also building a substitute list.  If you would like to serve in more of an as-needed basis, please indicate that in your email to us and we will greatly appreciate that back-up assistance!  Hugs, kisses, and big toothless smiles come free with service on this team.

Happiness is a Warm Blanket

Lord of Life Lutheran Church is participating in the collection of blankets for our homeless brethren of Central Ohio.  This mission is a partnership with Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Blankets will be distributed to the homeless during the Good Neighbor Picnic at Goodale Park on October 9th.  Please bring new blankets to the designated place in the narthex between August 1 and September 30th

For more information please contact Jill Cottone.

Lord of Life Cookbook

Do you remember those old-fashioned church cookbooks that your mother or aunts helped to assemble in their churches?  Many of their cherished recipes are preserved forever in those pages.  The Connect Team is exploring if you have any interest in creating a Lord of Life Cookbook.  Members would submit their favorite recipes, a cookbook team would type and assemble the book, and the cookbook would be sold (proceeds to go toward a mission project). What spiritual gifts are needed? leadership (two co-leaders to oversee the project) good communication (publicity/participation) perhaps cooks (those who know their way around cookbook design) a passion for mission (proceeds to be given to a mission cause) or simply a willing heart to assist the team in its many tasks.  If you would like to assist with a cookbook project, please contact Sherry Reis on Sunday mornings.

All Choir Rehearsals Resume September 8

All choirs (Children aged 3 and up and Adult) and Wednesday Night Dinners will start the Wednesday after Labor Day, September 8.  Please include us in your fall schedules.  If anyone would be interested in helping with either dinners or children’s choirs, please contact Marylou Schmidt.

Extending the Table of Grace

Update from July's Outreach: Fellowship, Food, and Fun with Over 250 Guests
This heartfelt chant rang loud and true at the Thursday Night Dinner, Table of Grace, this past week (July 15th) at First English Lutheran Church.  Over 250, men, women, and children were welcomed to a delicious dinner and then Vacation Bible School for kids and adults.  It was a fabulous summer picnic with fried chicken (400 pieces), Hawaiian rolls, coleslaw, corn on the cob, watermelon, cookies, brownies, and Nathalie Pfliederer’s moist and yummy sheet cakes.  Other than a few slices of watermelon and pieces of cake, not a scrap was left.
